The LE NOTRE Thematic Network in Landscape Architecture is a three year European Union funded project aimed at strengthening co-operation between universities and higher education institutions involved in teaching and research in landscape architecture. Landscape architecture is the discipline concerned with the planning, design and management of the human environment. The project will also draw on the experience and expertise of outside organisations involved with different aspects of landscape architecture practice at the European level as well as landscape architecture students and academics from neighbouring disciplines. The general goal of the LE NOTRE Thematic Network Project is to increase the quality of landscape architecture teaching and research undertaken by higher education institutions within Europe, taking the discipline to a new level of maturity, by building on and developing European best practice and identifying key needs and urgent areas for action in education and research within the discipline.

The European Council of Landscape Architecture Schools exists to foster and develop scholarship in landscape architecture throughout Europe by strengthening contacts and enriching the dialogue between members of Europe's landscape academic community and by representing the interests of this community within the wider European social and institutional context.
In pursuit of this goal the European Council of Landscape Architecture Schools seeks to build upon the Continent's rich landscape heritage and intellectual traditions.

Cohehre was established with the support of the European Commission and within the framework of the Erasmus-programme. The consortium was formed as the result of a European congress of 8 Institutes of Higher Education in Health and Rehabilitation in February 1990 in Ghent, Belgium.

The Rainbow network was established in 1994 and intensive programmes (IP) have been arranged every year since 1997. The first meeting was arranged in Brussels in 1994; a project of co-operation between Erasmushogeschool Brussels, Belgium; Hogeschool Zeeland, The Netherlands; University of Nottingham, England; Oslo University College, Norway; Mid Sweden University, Sweden; Swedish Polytechnic, Finland, Vasa.
